Street Furniture, Aviemore
As part of the public realm work for Aviemore transport interchange, a family of bespoke pieces of street furniture was developed with a local fabricator. Intended to create a sense of arrival at the south of the village and light the new station square, a suite of timber lighting columns was designed and manufactured from glue-laminated scottish larch, adding colour and warmth to the streetscape.
Included within station square are two glazed pedestrian shelters, a covered cycle stand, wall mounted and freestanding benches - all hand-crafted from scottish oak and larch. The use of painted steel fixings and details gives them a modern flavour that compliments the traditional painted-timber station.
