We prepared a strategy and masterplan for the area between the Grassmarket and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, at a time when it was dominated by the remnants of heavy industry, breweries and gas works. This set the context for massive regeneration including mixed use development between Holyrood Road and the Old Town World Heritage site.

Commercial and tourism focussed opportunities were also identified, integrating the urban form with the dramatic landscape of Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat. Integrated with this development, we designed and delivered the streetscape and civic setting to the ‘Our Dynamic Earth’ centre, which won a prestigious Civic Trust Award. As part of the wider holyrood area, it also received a BURA award for successful regeneration.
