Interpretation and Orientation Signage, South Queensferry
Working for Edinburgh City Council’s Department for Economic Development, the principal objective of the brief was to create a signing system that would entice more visitors into the centre of this fascinating historic town, strengthening its economic vitality.
New ‘gateway’ signs incorporating the town coat of arms were designed, and a series of strategically placed orientation and interpretation panels. The metalwork for both was based on construction techniques utilised on the Forth Bridge, which dominates the town. This project provided many of the initial ideas that were later expanded upon in both Stirling and Derry.
