Carrickfergus Masterplan - Public Consultation Stage
Town centres face a continued challenge to ensure that they are sustainable centres of community and commerce. Despite once being the medieval capital of Ulster, Carrickfergus is no different. Its proximity to Belfast is a double-edged sword, providing opportunities and threats to its prosperity.
Working in close partnership with the public and private sectors, we are currently developing an ambitious masterplan for Carrickfergus town centre. Objectives include reintroducing town centre living, revitalising urban spaces and giving Carrickfergus Castle the setting it deserves. An extensive process of community consultation is underway to ensure that local people play a central role in shaping their town.
