We developed design proposals for the regeneration of 40ha of land associated with the rivers at the heart of the east Belfast communities, identifying how over 9km of foot and cycle connections and new uses would benefit both residents and visitors.

The scheme was successful in securing funding of a substantial part of the estimated £30 million costs from the Big Lottery Living Landmarks awards initiative. In their assessment, the judges considered the greenway as the best submission of over 600, with only three receiving funding. The project has since won an RTPI award for sustainable planning and BURA awards for the masterplan and partnership approach.
