The tight knit streets of brick terraces are the hallmark of inner east Belfast, an area famed for its role in the city’s great ship building era. Like many inner city communities, however, the inner east struggled to fully recover from the departure of traditional industries.
Now, as the former shipyards and the nearby city centre undergo multimillion pound transformations, we identified the urgent need for inner east Belfast to reconnect with these areas.
Through the regeneration framework, a series of ambitious proposals were developed to overcome the physical and socio-economic barriers that have prevented the people of inner east Belfast from benefiting from such investment.
