One of Belfast’s most famous neighbourhoods, the Greater Shankill is known for its busy shopping street, the Victorian Woodvale Park and the strong cultural and political identity of its community.

Through extensive analysis and consultation, we documented the area’s decline to reveal a 'perfect storm' of industrial decline, socio-political unrest and 1970’s re-housing policy.

In the context of the fact that previous strategies have had limited impact on addressing this legacy, a strategic regeneration framework was developed to identify key initiatives that have the prospect to drive the social, economic and physical regeneration of this important area.
